Young willows and those in poor soil benefit from spring feeding. Mature willows near water rarely need it — they are vigorous growers and too much feeding just means more pruning.
At 1 tsp per quart, the 8 oz bottle makes about 48 watering cans of feed. For a typical shelf of 10–15 plants fed every 1–2 weeks in season, that's several months of feeding — and the 32 oz bottle four times that.
Every four to six weeks from early spring through midsummer, then stop so the tree hardens off before winter. Water it into the root zone under the whole canopy, not just at the trunk.

Not when used as directed. The dilution is designed for regular feeding, and a liquid spreads evenly through the soil instead of sitting in a hot spot the way granules can. If you ever overdo it, flush with plain water.
