Established plants can put on three feet or more a year. Steady feeding from spring through midsummer, plus deep watering in the first two years, is what gets them to that pace.
Every four to six weeks from early spring through midsummer, then stop so the tree hardens off before winter. Water it into the root zone under the whole canopy, not just at the trunk.
