How do I apply mycorrhizal fungi to a palm tree?

At planting, sprinkle it directly on the root ball and into the hole — that contact is where the payoff is. For new soil, mix 4 Tbs per cubic foot. For established palms, spread 1/2 tsp to 1.5 Tbs by size around the trunk inside the drip line, mix into the topsoil, and water — every 2-4 weeks in spring and summer, every 4-8 weeks in fall and winter.

Why do transplanted palms struggle so much?

Palms lose most of their functioning roots when dug, and unlike broadleaf trees they can't regrow from cut root ends — each root must be initiated new from the base of the trunk. That's why a moved palm can sit visually frozen for months. Inoculating at planting means every new root emerges into soil where mycorrhizae are waiting, shortening the rebuild it has to do.

Do I still need palm fertilizer if I use this?

Yes — this contains no NPK, no potassium, no magnesium. Palms are famously hungry for those last two, and no inoculant supplies them. What the fungi and bacteria do is improve how completely the roots capture what you feed — especially useful in sandy soil, where nutrients leach past the roots quickly. Run it alongside a palm fertilizer, not instead of one.

Will this fix yellowing palm fronds?

Usually not by itself, because frond yellowing in palms most often traces to potassium or magnesium deficiency — yellow-orange speckling on older fronds, or yellow bands with green centers — which is a nutrition problem for your fertilizer to correct. And don't trim yellowing fronds early: palms pull nutrients out of them. This product's role is upstream, helping roots capture those nutrients better.

Can I use this on indoor potted palms?

Yes — repotting is the ideal moment, since you have direct access to the root ball: dust it and the fresh mix, then pot as usual.
