Feed your lucky bamboo with our liquid Lucky Bamboo Fertilizer, made for Dracaena stalks grown in water-filled vases and in potting mix. It supplies dilute supplemental nutrition for the green leaves a stalk pushes from its tip. Mix it with water at the printed rate, whether you add it to the vase or water a potted stalk.
Lucky bamboo is a Dracaena, not a true bamboo, and most are grown with their roots in plain water, where there is nothing to draw on but what you add. New leaves from the tips are the sign it is growing; in low light or winter it slows and needs little.
Our formula keeps nitrogen modest and leads with potash, with calcium, magnesium and a wide run of micronutrients, in a balance suited to a slow-growing foliage plant.
Mix at the rate printed on your bottle and use the mixed water in the vase at a water change, or to water stalks growing in potting mix. The bottle directs once a week in high light or summer and once a month in low light or winter. Change vase water regularly.

Use the exact label dilution; do not add concentrated fertilizer directly to a small vase. Yellow stalks or rotting roots are not corrected by extra feeding.

healthy roots

Bright, indirect light a few feet back from a window. Direct sun yellows the stalks, and a dark corner turns new growth pale and stretched within a few months.
In a vase, keep the roots covered by an inch or two and change the water every week or two. Use filtered water or rainwater, since chlorine and fluoride brown the tips.
Potted stalks want a well draining mix kept lightly moist and never soggy. In a vase, clean pebbles are all that is needed to hold the stalks upright.
Comfortable between 65 and 90F, away from cold windows and heating vents. Below about 50F the stalks start to yellow and soften at the base.
Lucky bamboo asks for very little. Add Lucky Bamboo Fertilizer to fresh water once a week in high light or summer, and once a month in low light or winter, following the label.
Trim offshoots back to about an inch from the stalk with clean scissors. Cut away any stalk that turns yellow or mushy so it does not spoil the water.
