Yes when dosed as directed. It supplies plant nutrients only — no copper-based algaecides — so it is safe in planted community tanks, including with shrimp.
At 1 tsp per quart, the 8 oz bottle makes about 48 watering cans of feed. For a typical shelf of 10–15 plants fed every 1–2 weeks in season, that's several months of feeding — and the 32 oz bottle four times that.
Algae come from imbalance: too much light or nutrients relative to plant mass. Dose at the labeled rate, keep lighting to eight hours or so, and healthy plants will outcompete algae.
Follow the labeled rate for your tank or pond volume, or push the diluted feed into the soil of potted plants so the roots take it up directly.
Anubias, java fern, amazon sword, cryptocoryne and vallisneria, and other rooted aquatic and bog plants.
New leaves come in greener and larger within two to three weeks; flowering plants set more buds over the following month.
