Christmas Cactus Fertilizer is a liquid fertilizer made for Christmas cactus. It is a 2-2-3, a low-strength formula for a plant that grows slowly and steadily through the year and sets buds when the days shorten and the nights cool in fall. Feeding does not trigger the bloom; the schedule keeps running through fall and winter at a wider spacing so the plant is supplied going into it.
Mix it into a quart of water and use it as a regular watering. Feed every week or two in spring and summer, about monthly in fall and winter.

Bright, indirect light is ideal, and moderate light is fine. Direct afternoon sun through glass reddens the flat segments and can scorch their edges.
Water thoroughly, then let the top inch or two of soil dry before watering again. This is a jungle cactus, so it takes more water than a desert cactus but hates a soggy pot.
A loamy, sandy mix that drains fast. Potting soil cut with perlite or coarse sand works well; soil that stays wet leads to limp, mushy segments at the base.
Keep it around 65 to 75F in the growing season. Buds form in fall when nights cool to roughly 50 to 55F and the plant gets 12 to 14 hours of darkness.
