Arborvitae Fertilizer is a liquid fertilizer made for arborvitae — Emerald Green, Green Giant and other Thuja. It is a 3.6-3-5.1, for an evergreen that holds its foliage all year and draws on the soil through months when deciduous shrubs are dormant. It is the liquid alternative to a spike at every trunk.
Mix it into a watering can for a few trees, or run it through a hose-end sprayer and walk the row for a hedge. Feed every week or two in spring and summer, about monthly in fall and winter.

Set a hose-end sprayer to the 1-ounce mark and walk the row, wetting the soil out to the drip line of each tree, where the feeding roots are. For a few trees or a young hedge, a watering can at 2 tablespoons per gallon does the same job. The mix sets the strength the roots receive, so you apply it as a normal watering rather than counting gallons per tree; each tree takes up what it needs from the volume you give it.
If the browning is a nutrient shortage, yes. Yellowing or bronzing foliage on arborvitae often traces to low nitrogen, magnesium or iron, and Arborvitae Fertilizer supplies all three in a form the roots take up quickly, so the new growth comes in green. If the cause is drought, winter burn, root damage or disease, fertilizer won’t reverse it and feeding a stressed tree adds to the load. Water deeply first, find the cause, then start feeding.

Fertilizer burn happens when concentrated salts sit against the roots: too much product in too little water, or granules piled at the base of a plant. Mixed at 2 tablespoons per gallon, or the 1-ounce hose-end setting and applied every week or two in season, the nutrients arrive in solution at a strength the roots take up as they water. Keep to that mix and water it in as part of a normal watering.
